    Reducing Illegal Migration in North Eastern Ethiopia, Amhara Region Projecr Profile Project Name: “Reducing Illegal Migration through Integrated and Effective Educational and Community Awareness Program In North-East Ethiopia, Amhara Region.” Project Goal: “The overall goal is to contribute to the national development goals of reducing/eliminating illegal migration from its source in Amhara Region through raising awareness of youth and the communities, improve quality of education and reduce school dropout rate mainly focusing on North-East part of Ethiopia.” ቀለም ኢትዮጵያ ህገወጥ ስደትን በመከላከል ዙሪያ ትኩረት ያደረገ የሶስት ዓመት ፕሮጀክት ይፋ አደረገ፡፡

    Education to Remote Areas of Afar

    We contribute to the improvement of pastoralist children's life chances in Afar through education by implementing integrated and gender sensitive education. In addition, WASH, village level saving associations (VLSA) and Community Livelihood investment fund programs are also part of the project.

     Focusing mainly on primary education (Grades 1-8 and Alternative Basic Education levels 1-3) the program is being implemented with fund from UK Aid (DFID) and in collaboration with Save the Children International.

    Our health program deals with two issues. One being sexual and reproductive health and the other is immunization program with the aim of reducing the incidence of key vaccine preventable diseases and the purpose being to increase the demand, access and utilization of immunization service; and provide potent vaccines to children and young women in the Afar region

    Integrating WASH programs in the target ABECs of Afar region is one of our main approach including development of appropriate water scheme and construction of segregated latrines.

    TEACH project also includes implementation of integrated WASH programs in the target ABECs of the region including development of appropriate water scheme, construction of latrines and provision of various sanitation and hygiene related trainings for students, teachers and communities.

    Ensuring accountability in the education sector is a program being implemented in Dewe woreda of Afar regional state. We provide trainings on accountability to the citizens and service providers and arrange an interface meeting in which service providers are held accountable for their performance. An agreed upon joint action plan is implemented to improve education service quality.

    Kelem Ethiopia also provide assistance on emergency and relief in disaster stricken areas.
